My ecosystem is the Punahou Lily Pond next to the chapel. It is a lily pond that encloses 2 sides of the Thurston chapel. You may find turtles, fish and on occasion birds there. There is an island about 5 feet away from the edge of the pond that the turtles and birds sometimes go.
I believe that the lily pond will be a good place to study because there are many different organisms that live there and many different niches that can be found there

I observed that the turtles are hardly with the other turtles. Lots of the time or most of the time they are by themselves when they swim. Also i noticed that the turtles are on the island lots of the time when they aren't in the water. They don't go on to the concrete area where the kids hang out or on the sides of the pond were humans have access too.

I noticed that the turtles are staying around the island in the pond when not in the water. They never go to the bench area were the kids are but like to go to the island when not in the water. When i visited, they were by each other a lot of the time on the island instead of being separated like how they were when i visited earlier. This could be because of the time of day i went but i don't feel its because of anything. I think they just are sometimes by themselves and sometimes with each other. It just depends when you go to visit them.
If i were to put two turtles by the benches were the kids normally are, then the turtles would act differently and they would start heading back toward the water.
If i were feed some of the turtles bread, and let other turtles eat what they normally would then the turtles that i fed the bread to would start to act differently.

One question that was in my mind was, if i were to take a turtle and put it in unfamiliar land, would he act differently from a turtle that was in familar land. For my experiment, I took one turtle out of the pond and i put it on area that was not familiar to him within the ecosystem. From there, i took Abiotic data and observed the turtle. After that, i observed a turtle that was in the lily pond, which is familiar to the turtle and took Abiotic data as well and took observations. Then, i compared the results from both turtles and i noticed that the turtle that was on unfamiliar land, acted a lot different than the one on familiar land. He wasnt moving like the turtle in the pond was and he looked like he was basically stunned and shocked. The turtle looked lost and after a while, he started to head toward the water fairly fast when it looked like he realized where he was.
